This test downloads a 10 MB sample from Cloudflare's speed service and times the transfer from the first byte, excluding connection setup. It is a single-stream estimate — a fast sanity check rather than a replacement for multi-stream test sites.
Why is my result lower than my plan speed?
A single download stream rarely fills a fast pipe; full speed-test sites open many parallel streams. WiFi position, other devices, and server distance also shave real-world numbers. Treat this as a floor, not a ceiling.
Does the test use much data?
About 10 MB per run, plus a small warm-up. Fine on broadband, worth noting on a metered mobile plan.
