Latency Test
This test measures round trips from your browser to three well-connected endpoints. Each target gets a warm-up request first, so the timed samples measure the actual round trip rather than DNS and TLS setup, and the median of three runs is reported.
Is this the same as ICMP ping?
No — browsers cannot send ICMP. This is HTTPS round-trip time on a warmed connection, which runs slightly higher than raw ping but reflects what web browsing actually feels like.
What is a good latency number?
Under 20 ms is excellent, 20 to 60 ms is normal for fixed broadband, and 60 to 150 ms is typical for mobile or distant servers. Gaming feels lag above roughly 80 ms; video calls tolerate up to about 150 ms.
